Yeah, but isn’t the pro-rated true champ “Gone with the Wind”?
Yeah, but isn’t the pro-rated true champ “Gone with the Wind”?
I love Ellroy’s work but it’s a bit much at times. I GET what he’s going for, but he could do it better. I’m struggling through his latest book, which is way more scattershot and written almost exactly like “White Jazz”, my least favorite novel from him. But man... “American Tabloid” is SUCH a masterpiece along with…
That’s where we differ: first, I find the Marvel movies only earning their emotions based on the love of the comics backstory. If you’re not a comics guy (at least to me, and I’m not) none of this feels earned. It’s always the same cookie cutter template for the films albeit some are better than others due to better…
Didn’t you used to host Wonderama?
They’ve made some books more than one time (3:10 to Yuma and The Big Bounce) which is even crazier.
I’ll fight you on the best of his movies (I’ll take Dogs or Django personally) but otherwise I’ll stand back to back with you and take the rabble on...
That’s where we diverge: I don’t think it’s his best film, although it’s probably top three or four. I love Reservoir Dogs (what a fucking debut) and I’d also put Django over it. Not by a LOT, mind you.
Give me MANOS or give me death!
I’ve already seen those results. They’re called Marvel films.
You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I can think of multiple actual human emotions conveyed in said films, best being any scene with Robert Forster and Pam Greir.
Same here. I know a lot of folks on this site have issues with him (mainly due to his foot fetish and recent articles about Uma Thurman’s treatment) but in the end the guy is a talented director. Even if it’s a toss away I’d bet it’ll be better than the formulaic shit that is your usual Marvel film.
Did I mention he’s stopping after ten films?
As a ‘Yank’ this post is awesome. Per Garth Marenghi (in his audio commentary on the DVD) the worst accents is the “Irish”, “Scots” and whatever the heck a “Gordie” is.
I would greenlight that picture instantly.
I think the reviewers of films like ‘Inchon’ and ‘At Long Last Love’ would say you’re dead on wrong.
He’s more like Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men than Omar. Omar had...you know, feelings. And a soul.
Oh HAI bad movie...
I’m projecting him being affronted as he posts on his objections to the culture in which the film was make? That makes sense I guess...
You’re not getting all offended, but felt the need to project on this shitty film? Okay.
I want to begrudgingly upvote you for that bag reference...
