I still can't understand why Microsoft doesn't push a tablet out the door using the Win7 Phone OS (or a variant optimized for larger screens). With this kind of scratch to be made, they just come off looking stupid and incompetent next to Apple and I'm not even an Apple fanboy.

@Harry Manback: I think that people who say "Just suck it up" don't really know how hard it is. You can get through depression, but not by ignoring it. You have to face your fears head on and deal with the consequences.

Why haven't you guys updated this article with Kurzweil's response to PZ's disingenuous and mean-spirited rant?

I would like to hear the exact quote from Kurzweil saying he means to reverse engineer the brain by using some sort of artificial reality simulation. Considering scientists can't even reproduce the complex behavior of water in a computer yet, I doubt this is what he means.
