Here’s the funny thing about your own Wikipedia link on slavery: The only example it has of slavery continuing in Europe through to the 1400s is in Italy. It outright says slavery pretty much ended everywhere else in Europe centuries before then.

They actually didn’t find out there were slave traders in Africa until 1441, when a Portuguese guy bought a slave in West Africa. And European involvement didn’t really start until 1482.
