Those of us in the States really need the Democratic nominee to win, period, deeply flawed or not. American women should not be trying to destroy Clinton; she may be the only thing between us and removal of our rights. It’s that bad—much worse than a Clinton.

Was there a Jez article when Clinton committed to repealing Hyde? I don't remember seeing one and have been feeling lately like there has been a bit of a Bernie bias on the site. Is it just me or has anyone else felt that?

I think the biggest problem with Macklemore’s sudden rise was that his music was ever considered rap. Sure he raps, but so did Blondie. Thrift Shop and Can’t Hold Us and Same Love were popular in a pop context, in which they are good songs, not in a rap context, in which they are not good. He should have won a bunch

His songs have pretty good pop hooks from Ryan Lewis. They make great use of featured artists (frequently black). Ryan Lewis and [insert featured artist here] could replace Macklemore with literally any white guy in Seattle, and no one would notice. Macklemore thinking he matters is like a sprig of parsley thinking

Yep, Jay-Z is definitely the latest addendum to Sickboy’s unifying theory:

I’m in my 50s. I have so many stories of how women had to go through hell to get an abortion or birth control and what happened when they couldn’t get one or both.

I just can’t believe how much things have changed since right after Obama’s reelection, when we were all SO EXCITED for a potential Hillary campaign. She was asked if she’s running by reporters breathless with anticipation, idolized by liberal women young and old, told to RUN, HILLARY, RUN!

To me, the larger point is that “establishment” has become, like most politically and/or socially charged terms tend to, a rhetorical bludgeon that people use to avoid having to direcly address someone’s ideas.

I love Bernie, I do, but he’s throwing the word “establishment” around the same way people throw “socialism” around... these are not dirty words. PP IS established. It’s good at what it does, and THANK GOD. There are parts of people involved with the establishment that are very bad, yes, but it’s not an automatic

It’s patently absurd for either of them to suggest that they’re not part of the “political establishment.” You’re fooling no one guys, your political careers are both old enough to vote at this point.

I dunno. Much as I don’t exactly care for Clinton, I have to say that ‘the establishment’ is one of those buzzwords that evokes emotion while meaning almost nothing.

Since when is “establishment” a bad thing? She was the spouse of the leader of the free world before becoming the Secretary Of State of the most powerful state on Earth, he’s been in congress for a thousand years. They are both establishment and that is part of their qualifications for the job. They aren’t from the

As a former Senator, former Secretary of State, and early advocate for healthcare reform, Hillary Clinton should be proud of her position as a leader in the establishment.

Mimi getting married. I’m sure it will be a modest, understated affair.

Why do you think we haven’t had a woman as president yet?” First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton asked her guest over their lunch at the White House in 1995.

New reports have said that drone operators face enormous levels of stress, guilt, and trauma as a result of their jobs. People who witness their friends — and even their supposed enemies — killed or hurt in the line of battle can be and are still affected.

Personal responsibility! Except when my shit-ass kid hits his partner. Then it’s totes Obama’s fault.

Sarah, considering the stories we hear about your family and their run ins with the police, I’d say some of these problems are caused by your parenting skills.

I voted for Nader in 2000, so don’t give me this “critiques of Naderites” thing. I did so because (1) I live in California so it didn’t matter; (2) I was a young idiot; and (3) I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA SO IT DIDN’T MATTER.

Also, someone who has been in Congress since I was in high school isn’t exactly an outsider.
