If I have 24/13/11 shooting 10% from the floor with 17 turnovers and playing awful defense, it was probably a bad game. If a player’s worth was based simply and exclusively on his P/R/A slashline scouting would be easy.

I mean, he did make it clear he doesn’t want to rest because he’d “leave his teammates hanging”. I think it’s fair to joke about how he said that in defense of playing meaningless games in a race for an individual award.

I think it’s one of the best games ever because explore that world is all I’ve wanted to do for three weeks. I can’t imagine looking back in a few years and being like, “meh.” Obviously opinions are like assholes, but it’s a game that leeched into my brain like very few ever have.

Also Cuonzo is from East St. Louis and has connections there. I’m an Illinois fan and there’s certainly some concern that he’ll poach Jamal Walker (assistant coach who’s connected to Jeremiah Tilmon, a top-30ish big guy from St. Louis who’s signed with Illinois).

To be fair, his Sweet 16 run was from a “last team in” kind of tourney berth. Not to say it’s not impressive because it is and he deserves credit for it, but judging a college basketball coach by his tourney success and not his overall body of work is a mistake IMO.
