And those people - particularly the legislative branch - are not being particularly responsible these last 6-8 years.
And those people - particularly the legislative branch - are not being particularly responsible these last 6-8 years.
I agree but that assumes those people would listen. Because remember, as is the playbook at this point, “these people” are going to point right back at you shamelessly and say, “they are the reason you are in the situation you’re in.”
if you can’t afford your child care just bootstrap up and start being able to afford it. simple.
public university and public primary and secondary school are not reaally playing for the same stakes.
I think there’s some reality to that, but I also think that part of the reason Arne Duncan isn’t a super well known name is because he didn’t have the same history and stated intentions of burning it all to the ground in the name of profit. If he did, you’d probably know who he was.
Just like soccer fans feel about the WC.
Even more so, if the media insists “no, the blue is the water” then that drives his base deeper into the “blue is land” camp. Literally pointing out, that isn’t true at all, makes people believe it is more strongly.
Maybe, but the game pretty much came down to “run the ball up the gut three times and kick a field goal”, and the Falcons chose not to do that.
Counterpoint: The Falcons undoing were the two Madden-level playcalls to throw when there was no reason to, one resulting in a fumble and the other resulting in being knocked out of FG range; change either playcall to a run up the gut for no gain and the Falcons are Super Bowl champs right now.
This is a weird thing, but I honestly think a sound rejection of Trump would’ve gone a long way. It’d have pissed a number of people off, of course, but it also would’ve shown those that are more moderate (most of America probably) that Democrats and Republicans - the voters, not the officials - have more in common…
But the question is, how do you tell them the tooth fairy is a fantasy when telling them that gets you called a smug elite liberal?
Would you rather hire the brain surgeon who overcharges you for the work they do, or one who walks in to the operating room and asks, “do you know where the head is?”
This is my biggest question. The smug liberal elite thing is real, and I understand why people being consistently told they’re ‘wrong’ or that their ideas are outdated and sometimes offensive would make those people angry.
So here’s an honest question, because I think you’re getting at something real.
Shaq and LeBron vs. Chuck and JaVale. Bad Blood.
Problem is, Trump isn’t the beginning of people shirking tradition or convention to force some unpopular bullshit through - he’s the result of those rules being rewritten or flat out disregarded for years. Obstruct until you can cram something incredibly unpopular down the throats of the people, finally.
This is my favorite Carlin joke, because literally no one thinks it’s about them. It’s great.
I hear what you’re saying entirely but I think part of that attitude was this notion - even among his most staunch supporters, weirdly - that he was only saying all this insane shit to win votes from insane people in the republican primary and he’d be much different and more presidential when he was in the general…
Really, Obama was mostly just the first round - not by means of animus or his predecessors being more humane or thoughtful, which pretty clearly is false, but by means of him being President when this technology became usable.
