"...when someone at Konami stops screwing around and decides to release an HD collection of Suikoden 1-5 for PS4/Xbox One."

Argevollen is like, mecha generica. I mean I'm watching it but goddamn is it generic. Also the OP's animation consists of a bunch of animated cels they seemingly picked at random with no background - Just white! It looks... like an unfinished rush job.

I actually prefer Tokyo ESP's opening more, but what's really interesting is that the OP and ED are like, polar opposites. The OP is all bright and cheerful, while the ED is all dark and depressing.

I honestly never found anything wrong with the dialogue, but then what you'd consider crappy dialogue now was... pretty normal back then. Also, you're coming at this just after Lunar 2 that was localized by the brilliant quirky minds of Working Designs.

Lunar 2 was great! Really makes me nostalgic for those days, too. Wish there was a way to play it subtitled with JP voices because Lemina is voiced by Megumi Hayashibara, my favorite classic seiyuu.

Just gifted two copies to a couple friends and will purchase my own when I get home. I love TitS that much.

I was about to mention this. Dark Cloud in a sense is the spiritual successor to Soul Blazer.

I friggin' loved Wizard Barristers despite nearly all the flaws you mentioned. Then the second to last episode went straight to hell because they didn't have enough time to finish it.

I hope you really liked Slayers! I've been a huge fan of the series for well over a decade now. Out of the whole series I think Slayers Next is my favorite season, though Slayers Try is a close second.

My top 3 this season includes Blade & Soul and N0 Game, No Life at #3 and #2 respectively, but what's missing from this list is #1: Captain Earth. (Though it is a mecha show which guarantees tons of cliches.) I was hooked on that show starting from a single moment near the end of episode 2.

I remember all sorts of titles: Link's Awakening, Final Fantasy Adventure (prequel to my favorite game of all time), Pokemon...

For me there isn't really a "Golden Age" of JRPGs. I always enjoyed the crap out of them, to the extent that they only seemed to get better every generation - until the bottom fell out of the western market last gen and companies just...stopped localizing because first person shooters took over the market.

I think the chances of this next mothership getting localized are pretty high. NBGA seems to have finally woken up recently. I could see it taking a year or two after its Japanese release before hitting western shores though.

Tenshigami is a name I came up with by merging together the Japanese words for 'angel' and 'god' sometime during college and I've tried to keep it consistent since.

Now playing

Using the actual in-game version because the arranged version by S.S.H. is so good it just feels like cheating.

As a fan of Square Enix titles that are NOT Final Fantasy XIII, it's really becoming hard to support or even LIKE the company right now.

As a huge Mana fan, this is not the revival I was looking for. Heroes of Mana was a bad enough idea. Thanks for ruining everything I know and love, Square.

Collecting all the Studio Ghibli films available in English on Blu-Ray is a current goal of mine. I never really felt the need before since I could just borrow the DVDs from my dad, who's also a Studio Ghibli fan, but, y'know, I don't actually own those, and I recently came to the conclusion that as a fan, just

I will always be a Studio Ghibli fan. It's been in my blood since childhood. My favorite of all of them always has been and always will be Castle in the Sky. I originally saw it in raw Japanese, couldn't understand a goddamn word but I still loved it.

We don't necessarily know what kind of a deal GameStop made for sure, unless you know of a credible source that says otherwise. What is plainly obvious is that GameStop DID have at least some part in getting the game over here and that they had a timed retail exclusivity deal on it (aside from the Nintendo Store).
