It was good to see a glimpse of Cavanaugh back in Thawne mode. So fun.

Your daughter may be too brainy, and you should watch out for super-villain tendencies?
My brainy daughter mentioned that The Thinker’s end game may be related to the fact that his brain power sucks life from his body, whereas Barry’s body regenerates. Barry is a potential source of life for The Thinker. Thoughts?
Hmm, I actually really liked this episode. I like the Thinker and his wife, very interesting dynamic and they really care for each other. I find it funny how the one time Barry is right about something everyone just dismisses him and rightly so given his track record. But I’m glad we don’t have to drag out “Who is the…
I’ll agree that the CGI badguy at the end was lame. It’s the same problem in every Snyder-era DC movie - the last act is always an over-the-top fistfight and powerfight that is so far down CGI’s uncanny alley that it’s like the 8th Dimension.
This is the first time I’ve seen anyone imply that this isn’t a totally dire result.
This is the kind of math that a lot of people looking at “highest grossing movie of the year” lists forget. If Justice League makes $300m in the US the studio gets, say, $150m. If it makes another $500m worldwide the studio gets $175. That means a film budgeted at $300m with about $75m in publicity ends up loosing $50…
It’s not like someone just got everyone to agree “DC movies suck” based on nothing. A lot of people saw them, and they mostly reacted with “Yeesh”.
Guardians of the Galaxy was an ensemble to ensure that Infinity War can happen so it’s still within that notion of a big, shared universe. Additionally, Guardians benefited from lessons already learned from Avengers.
DCEU should have promoted on Kinja Deals. smh
Karl Urban did great work there though. He said SO much about that character and his internal struggles with just his face...it was a master class in fleshing out a character that didn’t have a lot going on as written.
At the end of the day a sequel to Thor, considered the weakest sub franchise in the MCU, made more on its opening weekend to DCEU’s Avengers equivalent. No excuses can change that. I’m glad it met fan expectations at least from what I’ve seen but this is not good for DC/WB
Do you think the costume is “sexist” because it has bare shoulders? Because it’s really just stylized ancient Greek armor
Also, whether it turns a profit isn’t really the standard that anyone, including the studio, should use to judge whether it’s successful. This is the first on screen appearance of some of the biggest, most popular comic book characters around. The only thing that has come close really are the past Avengers movies plus…
What a colossally inaccurate take.
I mean that bland, copypasted, superhero franchise is still making money. The grimdark, fascist, murderfest franchise isn’t.
I saw Wonder instead and liked it a lot more than I expected. It was less saccharin than it could have been, and I have to say I appreciate a movie about people learning to be nice to each other. It’s a nice antidote to the nightly news.
That DOES sound better than how I watched it.
I will hate-watch a blurry rip of this on a pirate streaming site with Korean subtitles and the silhouettes of the audiences’ heads clearly visible.
I did the same with BVS. It was ~perfection~
“I passed by there en route to my wine cellars for a ‘79 Margaux and couldn’t help but notice your room smelled distinctly of fart.”
Damn it, that got me good. They didn’t knight that guy for nothin’.
