Suppose my partner is like "honey I'm horny can you do something for me?", and I just kind of shrug and spend a few minutes eating her out or whispering in her ear while she uses a vibrator or whatever despite not being turned on myself. Why is that so awful? Of course I shouldn't be made to feel guilty for saying no,

Well I mean you seem to have a specific trauma trigger about your partner masturbating while you're asleep. Which, fine, perfectly reasonable to not want your partner to masturbate beside you given that, but also it seems like kind of a special situation.

I've never quite understood the dancing thing. I see how people who are good dancers are probably also good in bed. But like, what if you just haven't practiced dancing much? It's like assuming someone is terrible at basketball because they are terrible at volleyball.

It's just that voyager was so bad it's hard to concentrate on the thrust of the article. All I can remember is Janeway haggling with some asshole about the price of quantum nebular chips or whatever.

You're right, but Game of Thrones is kind of an exceptional case because one of the themes of the show is that evil often goes unpunished. Or at least, that the karma in Westeros is different than what we expect; i.e. breaking vows, harming guests, etc. are more likely to end poorly than murder, rape, or torture

Ok honestly I think that is a poor read on Jezebel commenters.

Also I had thought the prevailing view on rape (at least the one presented in Yes Means Yes) was that it was committed by a minority of serial rapists who know full well what they are doing and use rape culture to conceal themselves, not by random "nice

Really? I'd say they're kind of irresponsible, but not "really bad people".

Wait really? Cause in the movie the guy has to plea bargain and ends up on a sex offender registry which is way shittier

If you're covered in bruises with rope marks on your risks and like a pint of semen you might have a shot

It would have been kind of illogical otherwise she was just so clearly superior

I was a bit confused too. Did she mean that, or maybe because FGM is done to children? Like it does sort of seem comparable to an *isolated* case of FGM at least.

Also I mean such a manager would of course be very well compensated, but probably not equally to a wealthy executive. Not to say those executives former wives shouldn't be, but rather that this analogy is probably not the best approach.

It's just tricky because this also might not be the case. You can imagine a situation in which the wife basically did nothing for 10 years or whatever, and as I understand she'd still get 50% of the assets (earned during the marriage). This is of course not the *normal* situation, but it's odd to me that the law makes

Okay I kind of agree with OP but this is a bit questionable. Like think through the general form of the argument you're making: "if your partner ended up behaving badly, it's your fault because you knew from the beginning and liked it"

This is normally the part where someone would make an angry post about privilege asymmetry and the social-justice definition of sexism, so I'm just going to allude to it like this to keep everyone's blood pressure down

I can definitely cross my legs, but not above the knee, so I would actually take up more space this way. It's, again, because of the differing hip width, not because of testicles. I can (and do) just sit with my legs straight when the train is busy, though, which is very mildly uncomfortable - but again, not because

I think it really is more comfortable for men to keep their legs *slightly* more spread while sitting than a woman naturally would (much less than in the picture though). It's because men have narrower hips, not because of testicles. Obviously if the train is really busy though they should just be expected to put up

Wait agree to everything (when the bus is busy) except why can't I lean on the pole? Because less people can hold it that way? I guess if it's REALLY busy yeah

This is a really clear analysis I think you're exactly correct

That's because the random person would likely feel threatened and humiliated by the offer (due to the stigmatization of sex work). That's not the case here because of the anonymity.

I do agree it's a bit weird, but this isn't exactly why.
