Perhaps when you find yourself asking questions like this, you are pushing the usefulness of the "privilege" concept? Like, and I honestly mean this in a respectful way, how would a world in which "trans people who are straight have straight privilege compared to gay trans people" look different from one in which they

1) The women apparently did achieve orgasm, so the weirdness of the wet tampon is kind of beside the point I think?
2) Well, it's not a clinical trial, so they don't need to reduce statistical error quite so badly as in the standard Jezebel study. Of course it could still be that these three women are in some unusual

I mean the AskMen article was pretty outrageous

You should feel bad for him because the company is treating him poorly, but not because you're doing well.

Working from home or not, you two should be splitting housework evenly.

However. Since you feel you're doing an unfair amount of housework, though (and if you feel that way you probably are), you really ought to

Yeah. "What are men for?!" can be rephrased as "What are women not for?!". Anyone who asks this question has not quite appreciated what a society in which gender didn't determine destiny would look like.

Huh. I guess it's not a real concept because most of the traditionally-female tasks are kind of crappy, which I'm suddenly seeing in kind of a new light, so thanks for the insight.

I do remember reading some Macleans article or something about a feeling of alienation that some women with stay-at-home husbands

Well. I can't really see how to read your argument except that "men have it good in some ways, so they must have it good in all ways". Following through on this would seem to imply that there is like one starving dyslexic lesbian with chronic pain and toes instead of fingers who gets to complain.

On the other hand you

I think like garden shears or something would be easier actually

Call it sexist, bigoted and narrow-minded, but no man walking the earth likes to be beaten at any sport or video game — particularly by a girl.

What the fuck? And then it complains about women faking it. So what, it's unacceptable when women win and when they lie to spare men's feelings? You can't simultaneously

I agree with most of this. In particular I think focusing on infants and children is the best use of resources. Some of the fat acceptance posts here do tend to be hostile to even that idea, though.

On the other hand, although I agree it's not a realistic population-scale solution, I don't think dramatic weight loss is

This I don't agree with. I think it basically results from underestimating just how bad obesity is for you. If your body fat % is high enough to make you obese, then:

a) The health improvement you obtain via basically any intervention will be small compared to what you might achieve by losing weight. So the challenge

Well, comments on Jezebel articles actually do often explicitly deny that being overweight can and often does lead to poor health.

Strictly speaking I agree with you, although we probably disagree about the strength of the connection between obesity and poor health. But ok fair enough.

This is correct, but I think often over-interpreted. If you have a high BMI, there are basically two possibilities:
A) You are very muscular.
B) You have too much body fat.
In case B), body weight actually is a good proxy for body fat %. And since one can easily tell which case applies by looking in a mirror, there isn't

I'm missing the connection between either of these paragraphs and my post:

I said: "comments on Jezebel articles often claim obesity is not bad for you"
You said: "Studies that show obesity isn't as bad for you as we think don't encourage obesity. Also, even if obesity is bad for you, you shouldn't shame people for

The guy is a weirdo for many reasons, and I agree walking out was an overreaction. Nevertheless, I think it's a bit odd to mention that you are menstruating during a first date.

While you totally can do that, a good fraction of the commentary on these articles does tend to cluster on the "obesity isn't actually bad for you" side of things

Well, I think basically that the term "keep to a healthy weight" is colloquially understood to mean "keep to a healthy body fat %". Weight is also much easier to measure. I guess she could have been slightly more precise.

I haven't heard anyone denying that it's mostly white males who commit this type of crime

Actually, I am explicitly denying this, and you should too because it`s false. Its not, like, an ancient and mysterious question or anything either. There have been few enough American mass murders that you can literally just go

I felt I had responded to your points, so let me explain the connection.

Your first sentence argues that the fact the murderers are often white and male should be relevant to their motives. I agree their gender is relevant.

If race were relevant as well in the way you say - i.e. if being white made people feel more
