I have a friend who only puts on deodorant when he’s around straight people—

Disregarding everything else you claim there, he publicly owned up to it like 4 hours ago, so maybe it’s a bit early to judge how the outrage industrial complex is reacting to it?

Seeing her perform at an opera house with the Greenland national choir & Matmos (in 2001) is still one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. She sounded the same then as she does now, it’s amazing how well her voice has survived.

That person probably lives in Florida and got self concious.

Letting the cat smell your hand first is fairly important from my experience. Also, if it’s a cat you don’t know, squatting down a far distance away from them seems to help them come to you. I’m very tall though, so that may just be because the cats are terrified of a tree walking up to them.

Do you have a link to any more information on that (the CO philanthropist)? That sounds like an extremely nice program/gesture, and I’d love to read more about it.

I’m cheap, so I bought unglazed quarry tiles and just make a 2 tile x 4 tile bed on my oven rack whenever I’m baking bread or pizza. It works well enough, as long as your pizza doesn’t let any oil overflow or anything, as it can seep between the tile spaces and burn. But the box I bought 12 years ago still works great!

There’s a conspicuous lack of Verde. I miss their verde sauce. At least it’s easy to make.

This happened near the end of the Empire’s decline (2003-4) so possibly. It was an interesting place to work. Being a prep cook there was a lot of fun, as well. We made a lot of stuff from scratch.

    Not everyone understands art.

I did, I made sure all the employees knew about it so they could see for themselves.

This reminds me of working at Chi-Chi’s (still miss that place) in college.

My sister is an elementary teacher and her district only gave her two weeks paid maternity leave. She had to cash in all of her sick days to be able to get a few more. I figured it’s lucky she had the baby during summer break so she’d get all that extra time. But no. That counted as her two weeks.

“You, alright!! I learned it by watching YOU!” is a phrase I still say because I am a sad person and it pops up in my head whenever someone mentions learning.

I’m only halfway through the first video but I can’t stop watching. She’s not a bad story teller so far.

There was another mail bombing in Austin like an hour ago. :(

I am following this to find out the best ratio for brown rice. When I make basmati I’ve been doing 1:1 rice to water, high pressure for 6 minutes, and release the steam 10 minutes after that ends.

I made basmati rice in my pressure cooker (cuisinart version I got for xmas) and am still shocked at how amazingly it turned out. It makes me want to get a mini instant pot so I can make it at the same time as something else. This time it was for the butter chicken recipe that was floating around the New Yorker of all

Me too. And purple sweet potatoes!

Monkey 47 like others have said is delicious (but expensive). Other good brands: Ransom old tom style (my favorite gin), New Holland (hit or miss, Blue Haven is great), Uncle Val’s (I like their botanical and peppered varieties). Some local distillers in the city here are even making gin now that is pretty good.
