That would not solve the problem. There would be a funeral and the FBI would be there along with Martha's parents. When the parents ask for Clark and show the wedding pictures to the FBI and Stan, I can just see Stan saying: "This guy sure looks familiar."

That would definitely please the fans of the show who love Martha! The Martha lovers are just about everybody, but it would not be realistic to see poor Martha living in the shadow of the Kremlin and not attempting to contact her family.
