It is my opinion that they wanted the original cast to come back, but the actors got other gigs since Fox was indecisive as to whether or not there would be a second season.

You just may have solved the mystery of Season 3! Pilcher was interested in Rebecca the architect and not Theo the doctor to help Wayward Pines expand and grow beyond the fence. There are many buildings to be built.

Melissa Leo is the greatest. He performance is one for the ages, despite the fact that Episode 3 was a dud! Wayward Pines will be hard to keep watching, but I will stay around a little bit longer.
