Well I looked up my own answer as apparently for groups this map only includes bands if the majority of the members come from one state. So it disqualifies a band like Hootie if they meet while going to college, but came from different states like Hootie Did.

I would have thought Hootie and the Blowfish would have qualified for S. Carolina as i remember them selling tons of Albums in the 90s.
