I think you bring up a good point. The doubters *always* find a way to tear down the accuser and some MOs certainly take on a “female” vs. “male” approaches. “She” is just mad her career didn’t take off. “He” should have kicked his ass. Two sides of the same coin.

I have two children and seven years of experience as a parent “in the real world,” so I’m not just talking in hypotheticals.

Yeah, I kind of want to answer all of their assertions of independence with “and kids died from it.” No seatbelts? Kids died. Four year olds wandering around unsupervised? Died. We changed the things we do because kids were dying, not because we are a bunch of neurotics. I read an article the other day extolling the

I don’t think you need to pick any style parenting and we all need to stop judging one another. I am entirely too tired for this shit.  Most of us will fuck up our kids anyways.

I’m in the camp that thinks people should parent how they want to parent, so long as it isn’t abusive, and everyone else should mind their own business.

The “legit reason” you point to shows the level of unpreparedness the administration is/was to handle the situation in a humane manner. Qualified counselors and caregivers with the proper certifications and background checks should have been on staff. These leaks show that they are not.

It’s actually WORSE that dehumanizing. I follow an organization that monitors feral cat colonies and they recently found 3 kittens without a mother (possibly she was killed or scared off). They’re not only housing and feeding these kittens by hand, they also supplied them with a “cuddle mom” which is a stuffed cat

I saw that sociopath arguing that this is to prevent molestation (as if there aren’t 100 other ways to prevent that, and as if this policy even does). I’d argue that these employees be vetted like foster parents prior to hire, then let them hug the damned kids. If a foster family can take these children, they should

“You’re a Nazi and you have bad breath.”

As a teenager, I would definitely have taken dying and/or saving civilization from a dystopian hell over telling my crushes how I felt about them.

Another awful note on top of all of this: nearly half of Central American babies are breastfed until age 2.

I hate Bezos and Amazon so fucking much, just last week I only ordered nine different things.

He’s smart, roll over first, get misdemeanor charges, get probation while your fellow frat mates look like douches for prolonging the agony of the inevitable. Misdemeanor alcohol charges are easy to explain, manslaughter not so much when you apply at Smug Company run by your fellow frat bros.

“There are too few words to describe a loss so great. This young man understands that. This is a tragedy, and he is anxious to make amends.”

Apparently Piazza fell down a flight of stairs. The fraternity brothers saw it happen but waited 12 hours before calling for help (likely because they didn’t want the frat to get in trouble).

He fell quite a few times. But it was likely more the 12-hour wait to get him medical attention that did the worse damage.

DA basically said to the 26 defendants, “First one to flip only gets misdemeanors.”

Not 6 times but I loved it too. Same author as Fingersmith and Tipping the Velvet - but you knew that already ;)

Sarah Waters is tremendous. This book was tremendous. Ruth Wilson and Charlotte Rampling are tremendous. Old-timey British ghost stories set in crumbling country manor houses are tremendous. I can’t wait for this!
