“I’m Marc Evan Jackson. I play Shawn.”

It just underscores that “build the wall” was never about border security; it’s aways been about racism and white supremacy.

Actually, intent does matter, but it can only count against you, which is why Tahani’s good works didn’t earn her any points. Bad intentions nullify good actions, but good intentions don’t rescue bad actions.

I’ve never been able to sit all the way through The Shining. I’ve tried several times, but I always get fed up after about an hour.

This is weird. If it’s some kind of ironic commentary about propaganda, it needs work. Otherwise, it’s just somebody misquoting 1984.

They got it wrong, though. Ignorance is not bliss; ignorance is strength. I hate to see the classics misquoted.

Clearly you’ve never had a run-in with well-organized NIMBYs.

Eleanor puts her fist in the cake, just as she did in Season 1, episode 4.

I think there’s always the possibility that everything we’ve been told so far is wrong. I thought that from the beginning of the show — not that I predicted the big twist, because I didn’t, but I was aware from the beginning that they had no direct knowledge of anything they were being told about how the system worked.

Re: Brumby Hall: in the US, the ground floor is the first floor, and the next floor up is the second floor, but in the UK and most European countries the ground floor is the ground floor and the next floor up is the first floor. Which system do you use in Australia? The sign Chidi is looking at has a ground floor but

You’re either an idiot or a troll—maybe even both.

Wow, that’s almost exactly what happened to me! In my case, I was quoting directly from a book. I realized after I made the comment that I should have bleeped out the word, but by then the editing period had expired. So I reported my own comment and asked them to take it down, which they did. I only realized that I’d

This is a test.

I think that the practices that will help rape victims get justice will also help prevent some of the worst consequences for men who have been falsely accused: thorough, impartial investigation of rape cases. Police doing their jobs.

Hey, I got banned from Jezebel, too! I’m pretty sure I know why they did it, and I think I could probably get them to unban me, but I decided it was better this way.

You have the same policy in a lot of organisations that work with children, especially ones without criminal checks. Heck, if you manage a team sport on the weekend, it is made very clear that you do not touch the children in any way and you are not alone with them.

What would you prefer? A few kids crying and not getting a hug or the wrong sort of people working in an organisation full of the ‘wrong sort of people’ with unfettered access to kids without parents and no policy in place restricting them from touching?

Now try asking, “well, if knives are exactly as effective and dangerous as guns, then why do you need a gun to protect yourself?”

I know two couples who both changed their names when they married. Instead of hyphenating (which is cumbersome) they smooshed their names together so that the new name included parts of both. Obviously this works better with some surnames than others.

I had seen a lot of recommendations of the show, so I binge-watched the first two seasons. I gave up a few episodes into the third because I got fed up with every leader almost invariably choosing the most brutal, short-sighted, senseless response to any problem or conflict. A lot of decisions seemed to be based on
