So, this guy is scum, but now that he’s become the proxy for all scum everywhere I feel like we should be stepping back and looking at the broader picture. Everybody wants to jump on the bandwagon, but that doesn’t address the systemic cultural and criminal justice problems that keep rapists out of jail.

That’s not quite true. Women were only guaranteed the right to vote in 1919, but women had been voting in many parts of the country before that, especially in western states.

Also, in California the recommended minimum sentence for Turner's crime is two years.
