First, there is nothing wrong with cottonseed oil if it has been refined. It is actually beneficial in improving lipid profiles. Second, this is irrelevant as In-N-Out uses sunflower oil.

I have been to InO exactly twice. Based on my first experience I would have agreed with you on the fries. They were good and basically exactly as I would make them at home. However, they were pretty bad on my 2nd visit. Not sure why. You would expect a fast food chain to at least be consistent.
