Literally my entire life I’ve been trained that good computer voices should be slightly processed female voices (Star Trek, and a billion video games). That’s what living in the future is all about. Male computer voices want to kill me via nuclear war (Joshua), blowing me out an airlock (HAL), crushing me on the game

Did you get bored out of your mind in the first paragraph and stop reading? The article explicitly says the show started weak and then got much better.

I don’t know what Charles specifically was thinking of, but Wakanda’s technology and wealth are based on vibranium, a fictional superexotic material that’s incredibly rare on Earth in general but Wakanda has a literal mountain of the stuff (In Captain America 1, Howard Stark uses just about the entire non-Wakandan

“Good morning gentlemen”

Did you watch the trailer?

The trailer clearly shows 2 separate plot bits that consider the fact that the body takeover can have negative consequences for the host. I assume the whole movie gets into this deeper.

Enh, a fair number of the bodies would be male, if we go by the trailer.

To be fair, they make it clear the entity doesn’t have control over the body hopping.

I think the bigger issues is consent. If someone takes over your body and then does shit with your body you’d never want to do, like have sex with someone who is a stranger to them, or the wrong gender, or whatever, is that assault, and/or rape?

To be fair, to some extent that’s exactly how at least some of real world anti-Semitism works.

He may not have killed anyone, but he has an extensive reputation as a scumbag and sexualassaulter.

There looks to be a broad mix. In the trailers I’ve seen Batman 66 Batmobile, Mach 5 from Speed Racer, an early Gundam, the Akira bike, the Iron Giant, Harley Quinn, Chucky, BttF Delorean, Tracer, etc. That’s a 50 year span of references, so I assume they hope to grab a pretty big vertical slice of geeks/people who

I’ll say this. I didn’t like the book very much at all. But if the movie is going to be a big pile of references and easter eggs, at least they’ve made some smart updates. Iron Giant? I’m not made of stone.

It’s incredibly difficult to take any argument you make seriously when you keep using terms like “buttmad”.

I think you’re being slightly hard on the ex-boyfriend. They’re surrounded and blocked off from their means of escape. Would I have liked for him to have stepped up? Yes, but as a practical matter, Blink seemed very willing to escalate it into an unwinnable beatdown.

That assumes the mother is mentally healthy. She pretty clearly wasn’t. She was literally insanely overprotective.

I tried to get into the show but Jay’s character just seemed to be constantly yelling and angry and berating his ex gf over shit that wasn’t his business. It got old fast. And the agent guy was way too sleazy to be bearable.

His mix of scoring ability, efficiency, defense and general game intelligence for a 19 year old in their rookie year is bonkers.

Bay is legitimately good at keeping all the plates spinning on a big action production, in terms of handling complicated scenes that mix CG and practical effects, lots of moving parts, pyro, military partners and their involvement, in location shoots all over the world, etc. And he can compose some very nice wide

Oh, the actual speech? Okay, sure. I meant the whole goodbye...thing. But I may be biased because by the end of Tennant’s run I was heartily sick of him so I wanted him to go as quickly as possible.
