Honestly I think on net I’ve saved a lot more time switching to an EV because I never have to go out of my way to get gas anymore the 99% of the time I’m not taking a road trip. When I do take road trips the charging stops are just meal/pee/changing baby/coffee stops. On my typical road trip I think we add maybe 20

That is definitely not correct, it should only be about 40 minutes of charging if your trip is 662 miles one way. I’ve made numerous road trips in my Model 3 Performance. I think maybe you’re not accounting for the fact that you’d charge up to 100% at home before leaving which is already 300 miles of range. You only

How are you getting 3 hours of charge time one way? When you set out your car already has about 300 miles of range in it because you’re topping the battery off at home before you leave. Let’s say this is 250 miles real world, you’d still only need about 40 minutes of charging along the way there.

I think if you disclose your ownership positions (outside of general index funds like an S&P index fund) then there’s really no issue. People do the best investing in something they understand so if you think GM is going to do really well in terms of EV and self driving technology because you’ve been writing endlessly

The guy’s not a journalist and basically accidentally fell into Youtube popularity and used it to keep his company alive during COVID. He most likely didn’t even think about the idea of a conflict of interest.

I mean you can get it down to that if you don’t want the nicer seats, or PASM, or Sport Chrono, or any of the handling upgrades (rear axles steering, PTV+, etc.) but if you actually want it to be a superbly sharp car to drive it’s going to run you around $100K before tax incentives.

Because new car buyers do not represent the average person. The average person drives a car that’s 11+ years old because that’s the average age of a car on the road: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2019/06/28/average-vehicle-age-ihs-markit/1593764001/

How are fuel savings a lie? It might be marketing, but the fuel savings for driving an EV are very real. I’ve saved $4000+ on fuel from switching to an EV so to ignore that as part of the total cost of ownership is idiotic.

In his base model Taycan article his obsession with Musk leads him to claim that Porsches are better VALUES than Teslas. His obsession is honestly just sad.

Weight penalty is getting better and better. Honestly, if Tesla wasn’t trying to improve range on the cars and keep the acceleration brisk they could probably put out a variant that would be lighter than a lot of the ICE competition. Panasonic improved cell density by 5% already and they’re claiming they can improve

It is based on the same Isuzu as the old Colorado. Honestly I think the main issue is just that this car has no airbags in this trim, otherwise it seems to perform correctly for a truck platform of this age. Does a lot better than the 1997-2003 F-150's

Now playing

If this had airbags it would already be safer than a 2003 F-150. Actually, even without airbags it might already be safer, so it’s probably miles and miles ahead of a 1990s mini trick.

My wife associates it with greying baby boomers who are the majority of Mustang drivers in my area.

Did you actually Long Way Up before setting out on this trip? Because they ran into the 12V issue even while their two bikes were charging and it screwed up their charging session so it’s pretty clear that the 12V battery and charging system in these aren’t to be relied upon and you should be carrying a lithium-ion

Not to mention that to go that speed you have to have the accelerator completely floored, not just have your foot resting on it. Try resting your foot on the accelerator and you won’t go anywhere near 140mph, this is absolutely purposeful acceleration. Add on the fact that the car stayed in a lane and this is likely a

I actually think it might be a drunk driver given the late at night appearance of the road. Probably decided to rely on Autopilot to drive and then when it disengaged they decided to drive themselves and drove like a raging a-hole.

Honda did pay GM billions of dollars for technology from Cruise so it’s at least somewhat plausible that they’ll be able to offer a level 3 system at some point. What that timeline will actually be like and what limitations they put on the level 3 system are another matter. But it could be that Honda does put out a

I can overlook the exterior design if it means a really nice and practical luxury vehicle but I really wish BMW would stop doing these crazy interiors on the “i” cars. The i3 honestly went a little too far on the crazy interior for my taste and BMW seems to have decided to continue the random weird materials idea

This is like the lowest speed chase I’ve ever seen where the suspect managed to crash the car. What was he doing, like 15 mph around that left turn?

Yes, what a shock that Honda’s expensive EV with half the range and practicality of similarly priced competitor vehicles isn’t selling well.
