No public figure is ever effectively “cancelled”. I think its at least partially due to it being a stupid fucking term and a lot of “cancelling” seems to be down to knee jerk reactions. I agree that while few, if any, of the people “cancelled” actually effectively disappear, is undeniable the modern left has a tendency toward absolutism and “purity” that leads to many people calling for stuff/books/art/people to be censored/destroyed/cancelled, sometimes for pretty minor or perceived transgressions.
