That’s why I pointed it out. I don’t want to be a dick, but the chances that you are a UW Stout undergrad with a good enough job to actually buy you that car outright (plus insure, maintain) is slim to none.

I came from the SF Bay where this sentiment would be totally understandable. But as a Minnesota resident you need to understand the perception that German luxury marques carry in the Midwest. The only reason you would be driving a BMW as a college student (regardless of the cost to buy) is if you are comfortable with…
White Midwest kid driving a BMW to his presentation at a UW fucking Stout screams daddy’s money, and the sort of daddy whose kids the cops don’t shoot.
Meanwhile, in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, blocks away from the sleepy Saint Paul campus of the University of Minnesota, Philando Castile was shot and killed during a traffic stop, ostensibly for a broken tail light.
You’re a “house-owning San Francisco coder?” jfc
Huh? Used car prices are cheap here. I came from the SF bay and the same car costs literally half.
As a former bay area resident, are you sure? Most cars on the market are rust free but also made of Bondo.
Lol whoever wrote that Reuters article has no idea what mechanical engineering is. Do they know that controls are a mechanical engineering discipline?
As a University of Minnesota student, the whole team can fuck off and I’ll be glad. We can stop building ridiculous training facilities.
It’s the typical E30 M3 style price bump. Syncros are sweet and appreciated. Now every van of the same gen is worth dumb money despite people forgetting that slow van is only a fun formula when you add killer AWD.
You know they’re cheap as fuck, right? Find $4k for a nice one.
250!
This may be the most complete takedown in Jalopnik recent memory.

Sure, 1998 GM. You’ll never have use for a performance engine that returns 21 city/28 highway.
Another super interesting late Saab is the NG9-5. The Aero is a stunning looking car and makes a hell of a highway Q-ship. Mechanically it is essentially a Buick.
From what I understand, it was pretty much just a very credible Cadillac SRX. Good chassis, good power, drove pretty tight and much more stylish. Obviously still a crossover, but I do believe the Aero probably realized the platform’s potential.
Another comment: Saab was allowed to develop manual trans axles for the rest of GM Europe which it did to reasonable success, including the very good F40 six speed. But GM’s stipulation that Saab use Aisin automatics caused the issues mentioned, as well as the #1 killer of Saab: FWD only. Contrary to a lot of claims,…
A person from my home state club (Saab Club of CA) flew out to Boston to ship home the perfect 9-4x Aero. That is a hot car and rare as fuck.
