We’re still laughing.

Sounds like the GLA.

The amount of betting on cheap gas that ‘doubling down’ on Jeep and Ram represents is, I think, exaggerated. FCA needs to meet increasingly stringent fuel efficiency standards, but also needs to remain profitable. Their investments in Jeep and Ram seem to rely greatly on improving fleet efficiency for both brands,

I live in the Twin Cities metro which is pretty spread out. Transit here works great. The right mix of LRT and buses plus intelligent planning does wonders. Ridership is a problem only if you don’t offer services people want. Buses run late and very frequently here.

Ohmygod how did you

I’ve lived in MN and CA.

Where do you live? In most of the country where a winter beater is desireable, not starting below 0 would be an instant disqualification.

The recently departed Mustang was, at least, a late holdout.

Exact same problem as the Saab 9-5. Fully synthetic oil and frequent changes will solve it.

Dropping the engine out the bottom isn’t too bad on most cars. I had to do it on mine because the CV axles wouldn’t budge and I couldn’t fit the slidehammer through the subframe. A lift becomes a HUGE asset in that situation (mainly because there’s a good chance you’re removing the front jacking point with whatever

I honestly think this would be better than the numerous videos of decent drivers in slower cars trying to have a nice track day while the person in front of them shits the bed on every corner only to gain a huge gap on the first straight because he’s being towed by a gigantic AMG engine or something.

Sure thing. Now how about a moment to recognize the irony of so viciously supporting your right to make decisions in your car that you tell people what they should and shouldn’t like?

Sounds like a good time. You’re the sort of guy to complain relentlessly about electronic nannies encroaching on the driving experience, but you’re a flesh and blood nanny right here.

What’s the outrage? I would love a famous driver to show me how my car can be driven. You forget that the GT-R is supposed to be the supercar for people who can’t necessarily just go out and rent a pro driver for the day on a whim.

Is there anything you can’t get upset about?

Totally right. I’m sure an Aero would be over $50k adjusted for inflation, too. The joke was if people were just concerned about “most powerful turbo 4,” they’d be cross-shopping old ass Saabs.

250 with overboost in original form.

Sorry-technically it’s 2000, because that was the introduction of the Aero. It was originally rated at 230 but revised to 250 with the manual.

lol

GM did actually tap Saab to develop a turbo V6. Called the LP9 and later LAU, it had forged internals, a lot of advanced valvetrain tech and an itty bitty twin scroll turbo as is now popular. In typical GM fashion, it was stuck in transverse configuration and never made more than 320 crank HP in a production car
