Cats get way too much of a reputation for being cold and heartless. Just because you're an independent minded apex predator doesn't mean you don't have a heart.

Cats are amazing guardians of little kids. I had two cats in my crib from the first day I came home from the hospital and my Mom said they made it their job to protect me from strangers. Any funny odors or sounds in the house, the cats came crying to her until she checked on me.

Can we get an update after we hear from The Cat? The minstrels will no doubt require it's name for the lyrics to the ballads they will be singing in praise of this heroism and so will the sculptors for the engraving on the bronze statue in it's honor.

When I was a kid, I had the most beautiful, street smart, brave, intelligent, warm, loving stray cat that "adopted us". He adored us. But he was HARDCORE. He would do standoffs with the next door dogs until they ran away and on more than one occasion "beat up" a dog.

As a resident of Bakersfield, California, it truly does not surprise me that someone just let their angry, probably non-neutered dog get out, and that this angry, non-neutered dog attacked a child without provocation.
