Yeah, considering it produced the BMW X6, is our solar system really that great?

Blocked off???  There are two plugged cylinder bores???  Holy shit!!!

The B58 is bulletproof enough for Toyota to use and warranty, which says something.

We’ll check back in a few months and see where you’re at.

Absolutely agreed. They make some unusual engineering choices too, like how the Jaguar V6 is a V8 block with the last two cylinders blocked off and a shorter head stuck on. I know they don’t have the development budget of some other brands, and man oh man does that reality show itself.

None. Cars on average are more reliable, but company culture and sourcing strategies transcend overall improvements and the jump to EVs. Need evidence? Read about the horror of VW ID.4 infotainment failures, the Kia/Hyundai TikTok theft fiasco or the 8 million Fords recalled in 2022.

I don’t actually think Jaguar is hurt by its prior reputation for unreliability. As you hint, sister company Land Rover has an equal or greater record for unreliability, and manages to do just fine. What hurts Jaguar is that its current crop of cars don’t do anything as well as the Germans, and aren’t particularly

Hyundai Theta engine has entered the chat...

That’s NSFW.

Working for a rental car company in the late 90's/early aughts, I still have a sore spot in my heart from the shovelware GM was lazily tossing out at the time, and it influences my decisions still to this day. However, I think things have changed, especially under Mary Barra’s leadership, and GM is actually putting

Would it be fair to compare a $2k add on vs a $6k or $15k add on? I am assuming they are comparing like systems with similar capabilities and how they work. Comparing a system that has less capabilities stated from the OEM to one with more stated capabilities is not apples to apples either. And just because auto pilot

For example, does every modern Land Rover Discovery deserve the stigma of the LR3 years or further back?

About half the population just kind of sucks in general and likes to make shit up. Gosh, this is reminding me of something.

Keeps everyone honest.

I’m not seeing how climbing in and out of a tent that costs 25x more than a good tent that you can walk into on the ground makes camping any better. Unless you’re “overlanding” roof tents suck and $7,000 roof tents suck even more.

Because I really want to drive past all sorts of great lodging containing proper beds, bathrooms, showers and EV chargers, so that I can crawl around inside some janky tent on the roof of my 200k Porsche in complete discomfort.

Houses are too expensive, so I bought a Porsche.

I did take a pretty good look and couldn’t find anything. There is an option for an “inner tent, a heated blanket, and a shoe and bag organiser”. You know, for camping.

or it can be for those people who can barely afford the monthly on the car and cant afford a place to live. /s
