I've read reports that the fox couldn't reach the grapes, and reports that the grapes were totally sour and he didn't want them anyway.

It's not that he'll be moderate, it's that he doesn't have the power to affect the budget so it probably will end up being a pretty moderate budget. Bannon's trying to spin that.

I used to give Bannon the benefit of the doubt, so I tried to figure out his real ideology. I eventually realized: he's just another one of those celebrities that went crazy after 9/11. He's Dennis Miller or David Mamet or Richard Dawkins. His ideology is "WHY WONT ANYONE ADMIT THE MUSLIMS ARE EVIL"

I used to give Bannon the benefit of the doubt, once. I figured, "Well, he's awful, but he must have some coherent ideology." And then I realized, "No, his coherent ideology is 'aaaa Muslims aaaaa.'"

The Virginia remarks really did feel different. The disgust from places like Fox News and the humiliation on the faces of the people who think of themselves on his sideā€¦ it really seemed like the death of "let's give him a chance."

Well, shyeah, because something something corporations something mainstream something!

The vast, vast, vast majority of his voters just always vote red. The real deciding factor was religious conservatives deciding at the last minute to hold their nose and vote for him.

This narrativeā€¦ even among that fanbase, it's bewildering to me. It's a brilliant plan to oust Bannon from his previous position of power and to put him into the other position of power he clearly never left!

Um, everyone and their mother knows Trump has no power to influence the budget, and that republicans have no political capital to spend on shutting the government down again. This is an extremely unconvincing way of trying to spin something we all know is coming.

I like that the Adult Swim people figured out that the best way to prank their audience was to make a show that actually had a deep, continuing storyline you had to pay attention to.

Um goddamn Killer7.

Would Miller and Bannon be gone? yes. ok then done.

Look, prog rock and I had a little fun when we were teenagers but that doesn't make us GAY ok??????

It's something that has been inflated because of the internet. "Gotcha, you're a hypocrite!" is for some reason super goddamn satisfying and rewarding, even though it's utterly meaningless (you can be a hypocrite and still RIGHT).

It's not just false equivalence, it's this heuristic "If it's impolite, then it must be true and good."

The NYTimes has a good article about this, how a likely explanation is the certainty in rightwing media that there's this secret alt-left violent brigade, but that no one is willing to speak up about it because of political correctness.

Uh no, I was saying it wouldn't be useful to take you up on your suggestion to talk to my male friends about being a nurse.

Holy shit if Jordan Peterson isn't alt-right, then the term really DOES have no meaning.

Actually personally, I know more male nurses than female ones.

But more men SHOULD be nurses. Especially in lower middle class rural areas, the health field is where the jobs are.
