Meh, I can buy that he genuinely meant it as a joke, just a poorly-told one. It's a sort of sloppy, one-off humor, where it's meant to be funny because it's obviously not true. Like calling Ryan Gosling a hideously misshapen monster or James Brown a lazy bum. It just didn't work, maybe in part because of delivery &

They're basically saying outright it is just a correlation. It isn't the wine that leads to more adjusted children... It's the mothers.

But then it's not about the alcohol, it's about being educated and healthy. Or am I missing something?

As always, correlation != causation.

Three pullups? Only 1% of the women could do them?

Are we sure that we're talking about Marines here, and not a middle-school gym class?

I find that almost literally unbelievable.

I don't really see what the problem is. If physical strength is a necessary requirement for a job, and I would imagine being a marine is one of those jobs, then set a standard and stick with it. I don't see how we benefit by watering down standards and in this case it's clear that while not all women can pass the

Three pullups? That's it? We're talking about Marines, right?

If they can't do 3 pull ups they shouldn't be in the military. Come on people, 3 pull ups? Don't drop the standards. Don't give in to people saying that women should be in the military despite not being physically capable for the job. This is just ridiculous.

I knew a girl in college who was trained in the circus arts (her words) and not only did she do several routine pull-ups daily for exercise, she did them off the side of her third story apartment balcony for fun.

Time to look away??

"continue to gather data and ensure that female Marines are provided with the best opportunity to succeed."

What gives, I wonder? Are they not being given enough time to train/build upper body strength? Because I know bored middle-aged housewives who managed to complete the 20 pullups challenge (http://twentypullups.com/), surely young female marines can manage three.

You've finally shown your true hypocritical & bigoted colours...

Apparently his being short is horrifying to you. As a short man, you learn to deal. That being said, I would climb Taylor like fast-growing ivy.

Can you please take your damn purse off the stage?

Post this everywhere so y'all can get over your realllllyyyyy weird physical and emotional insecurities and be more accepting to what my and Bruno's* wedding pics will look like. Though I am taller than T. Swift and larger so the outrage will be greater but whatever moves the country forward. Baby steps.

Classy, Rebecca Burt Reynolds. Thanks for reminding us that body shaming is okay so long as it's not done against women.

Yeah, but you're forgetting that according to geniuses who "write" for Jezebel, it's only women who are victimized and body shamed. [insert obligatory whining here]

It must be real, and it's creeping this girl out too!

If this was some huge fat woman people were making fun of Jezebel would be in a fury. Just sayin'.
