Until the announcement, I didn’t know an always display was so desired. Mine is always in movie mode because I only want to see the time when I tap the screen. I also use the watch for sleep tracking and having the display turn on at night is not ideal.

People aren't necessarily asking to have it both ways. Those who bought the GS5 are presumably happy to trade the fit/finish for interchangeability (or whatever other reasons). People who didn't buy the GS5 may not have done so because of the fit/finish. Two separate groups of people with different priorities.

I never understood why anyone cared what the back of the phone looked like. The sad part is that the only time I see the back of the phone is when I take the case off to swap batteries and so now basically never again.

I would say most users don't care if the phone "looks good" since they put it in a case anyway to protect their investment from their accident-prone selves (myself included).

I want my replaceable battery!! :(
