I might take a stab at it if I had access to the project files right off the grading suite. The blu-ray is pretty low bit depth.

*my angry, nerdy film major brain explodes*

But he sure makes an impression as the sled.

Yeah, late-period noir is a great example of BW used to generate a modern, shocking, gritty feel. Film noir (as in film black) operates in a worlds where morality is visually diegetic—worlds that are so bleak color can't exist. Protagonists are trapped by their circumstances, but also by shot composition, color, and

He hasn't confirmed this, but I'm assuming Eric Whipp or another colorist graded it personally. It sounds like there's an actual print floating around. These YT videos are just guesses.

You're so right. Even so, the persistence of black and white in fine arts photography is instructive—some visuals are just more persistent and striking without color.

You've made a few assumptions that I believe are incorrect.

That is some hardcore living up to your username.

I wish "Colbert" had been a little closer to "Chris Morris," even if that would be basically impossible to sustain in the format. (The "Colbert" who did the Correspondents' Dinner was fairly close.) "Chris Morris" might be the deftest satirical creation of all time, and it's frustrating that we only have half a dozen

I’m mystified by this logic. Do you mean wider relative to the height, or wider relative to the distance to the viewer? Home theater setups are better than ever, and a 21:9 picture will reproduce better on a 52” 16:9 television than it ever would on, say, an older home projection system. There’s no logic to the idea

This is very rare. The producer may have something to say about the viability of film on the low budget end or the commercial necessity of IMAX on the upper end, however.

And as we all know, “genitals maketh man.”

As a user, you’re right—Android backup has been atrocious for years. There’s no desktop client support for good ideological reasons, but up until M, there hasn’t been cloud data backup on the system side; just whatever the app cares to do. That’s all changing in M. The user’s builtin Drive storage is used to

It was conversational, funny, and awesome. I don’t know what your problem is.

Pee Wee Herman is just a horror-film cover of Buster Keaton, right?

When are Fey and Carlock going to snap Kay Cannon back up again for something?

No, but it IS spelled "pediatrician." We didn't quite get the language right.

Talking Blunt is the aftershow hosted by Chris Hardwick, I'm assuming.

Man, you are hanging out with some good people. I think the position that Jackie Brown is anything other than a lower-tier Tarantino is still a contrarian one. I'll concede that Basterds is awesome; it's probably my #3 after Jackie and KB Part 2.

Jackie Brown belongs here. It's not the splashiest Tarantino, but it's got a more cohesive and politically aware vision than any of his other films, and it's got many of the best performances.
