I agree it's bad. Too broad is right.

The "dark" and "evil people" aspect of the show never seemed especially important to me. Just like in "Seinfeld"—I never felt he characters were especially reprehensible, just with a range of average pettiness that got exaggerated for comic effect (—and the show got worse when it seemed to discover, wrongly, that its

Yup. It just meandered without being funny or interesting, and the cameos, especially sis, made its lack of distinction seem smug.

My fav has these words:

Seems I'm lucky I have no idea who he is because the show's good, and he presents no obstacle.

Williamsburg, grandparents
Bushwick, parents
Detroit, yourself

I know, I know. I should try again, and harder. Plenty of people with taste love them, so I think I must be wrong.

I like the one where they make fun of the Replacements.

"…and that means we get to Photoshop him into the above Simpsons image, as per official A.V. Club policy"

The comments section here is full of loudmouth bullshit dismissing Ford as a filmmaker.

Nobody needs greatness or leadership on this. Just the recognition (or recollection) that reality's a mixed bag.

People really need to teach their brains to do more than one thing at a time.

The killing-off-major-characters-suddenly thing has gone from a mildly interesting challenge to genre conventions to a gimmick.

Wouldn't doubt it, but don't remember.

Good review in the NY Times today about how this show has lost it:

All I know is, when I'm listening to a song I really love, and then reflect that the performers of it aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (if they aren't), well…

I could stand about three seasons of this show, then stopped watching, then came back for the final few episodes, just to see if I could tolerate them.

I watched and liked "Late Night" quite a bit when I was in college and only rarely watch "Late Show" now, which I find hit and miss.

Yeah I always liked it better than "Tonight's the Night" even. Sure seemed pretty dark to me, in an interior way, even darker, though less blunt and explicit than "Tonight." In fact, I probably think it's NY's best record.

Always amazes me that someone can find so much to say about this sad show. Kudos!
