I’ll grant that a) “The Mueller report was a big nothing” was an odd an inaccurate thing to say at the top of the show and b) the jail sketch wasn’t very good. But I still don’t understand this harping week after week about the weakness of SNL’s political comedy. What is your idea for a really biting premise for a

Imagine a British comedy sketch with the premise: “wow US Democrats sure do hate Trump’s wall i bet that makes him sad how do they keep their roofs up if they hate walls so much lol”, and you have an idea of how wrongheaded that Theresa May sketch was.

It’s strange how I look forward every week to Perkins’ recap of SNL and yet more often than not, I find myself largely at odds with how he rates the episodes. Given how banal this season has been, I found this episode to be honestly one of the BETTER ones with Kit joining the ranks along with Liev Schreiber and James

The videogame sketch was one of the most inventive sketches SNL has done in a while. It’s the kind of thing that could have been on Key & Peele.

Random thoughts on three sketches:

I get why Dennis is disappointed but I don’t understand why he commonly docks points for things like “they didn’t skewer the trump administration hard enough” and “this character / sketch was repetitive.” Most of SNL this season has been funny, the sketches mostly work live... Why doesn’t that weigh more on these

I thought this was at least a B. Audience reaction alone there was a ton of energy throughout, in particular the Charmin sketch and update killed. Compared to a lot of hosts McAvoy was petty committed and had great timing. Overall I found this funnier than most of the season so far. Sometimes I feel like these reviews

You’re reading a lot into McAvoy’s feelings about the show. Perfunctory? Not into it? He seemed to me to be having a good time, and the energy of the episode felt higher than average. A lot of repetition, yes. But almost every bit worked on its own.

They weren’t always “well known”. They were a mix of hugely successful and the buzz worthy artists of the moment. You're just old now.

What happened to the days when the musical guest was pretty well known? This guy just seemed run of the mill hip hop.

They’re gonna trot out Kel the SECOND ratings start to dip. I predict the Kel stunt-cast happens in the back nine. Please bookmark this comment.
