3 and 6 suggest that someone "may" like BDSM, which doesn't seem rape-y to me. But 15 is problematic. It might be talking about consensual BSDM, but it seems to assume that ALL girls like it, which is a big problem.

I tend to agree that 3 and 6 aren't necessarily problematic since they clearly say that girls "can" or "may" like this, but I still have a problem with 15 (dangerous generalization) and 16 (complete denial of agency).

Yes, I didn't mean to accuse you of actually holding those views. It's important to identify the process of marginalization of different groups.

Obviously a beret is a fashion statement. But if you're dating them and they seem like the kind of person who's into that style (maybe they like to discuss Sartre or watch Zooey Deschanel), then why not go for it? It's kind of quirky gift, but that's what makes it cute.

"I found out his birthday is next week, and I kind of want to get him something, but am afraid that he might already have it/not need it?"

You think the problem with the Thanksgiving "lie" is just that it's untruthful? No, the problem is the historical legacy of oppression, racism, and extermination that the Thanksgiving lie whitewashes. If there was no history of oppression and extermination, the Thanksgiving lie wouldn't matter.

"There can be no objection to the domination of a carnal/emotional group by a cerebral/rational group."

"These college students are symptomatic for a time and culture influenced by crisis and post-Reagan capitalism where institutions such as colleges have become an outlet for the desire to earn a lot of money some day."

True. There's no reason to read a print paper full of stories from the wire and short news blurbs. But print is still useful for longer, less up-to-the-minute, articles.

Not for any specific Black Friday deals, but I did pick up a new overcoat at Macy's. It was crowded, but certainly not crazy.

"The general public does not usually get to read a researcher's own explanation of their work, and a lot of these studies aren't nearly as awful as the articles about them make them look."

"witnessing someone using unfair tactics to try to advance professionally (i.e., dressing sluttishly to try to win favour with male higher-ups, instead of working hard and cultivating actual skills) offends women's sense of *JUSTICE*, and is (usually rightfully) interpreted as revealing weak moral character"

"The problem with Vaillancourt and Sharma's study is that it artificially produces that judgment and then invents an explanation"

It's been a tough year to watch Columbia football. Worst was when they gave up a safety to Dartmouth after a fumble!

"Around 6% of Yale undergrad students are from Connecticut, in state."

"I'm very liberal on sexual issues, but a huge component of that is not making people with different sexual values from me uncomfortable."

To sum up your post, "There are poor black homeless people in New Haven, so it must be really scary! Why aren't Yale students scared?" The sheer racism and elitism of your comment is mind-blowing.

This interpretation is a bit sensationalistic. China's not just threatening to release a cloud of greenhouse gases if they don't get get favorable terms in an unrelated economic agreement. They're warning that they'll stop sequestering greenhouse gases if the international community stops paying them to sequester

Only if it's a slow and dramatic chase.

I can't tell if you're being serious or trying to mock people from marginalized cultures who complain that racist Halloween costumes are racist.
