@ytkliu: And there are some businesses that will actually ask you to log in so that they can see your facebook profile. Thankfully, most businesses don't do this yet, but I wonder if it's the future.

@freakshowtime: I don't think he was making a correction. I think he honestly thought some called it an "explanation point."

@rathat: Because it's a national newspaper. If you want to find out how the language differs, read the (forthcoming) peer-reviewed journal article. Do not rely on national newspapers for science/technical information, as they will not provide it.

@deciBels: All languages are processed in the language portions of the brain; that much is clear. But they all perceive reality in different ways. When it gets to the really high-level neural processing, languages may differ in the regions of the brain they activate, but not at lower levels. The "language" parts of

@Tudza White: "I have no idea why people believe some complete language can not express something from another complete language."

@dsectric: you're libertarian, like most geeks.

@jdale: "Shiny, ok, but does it give you recommendations or a human smile?"

@djdare: No, those who "have" need to trade with others who "have" (different things). If you "don't have," then you can't trade. The point of a free labor market is that everyone has at least one thing (their own labor) so they can always trade. The trick is that people ARE effectively forced to work if they have

@JeffPom: Also not seeing it :(

@TTownTerrorist: Now that's actually not a bad deal. That's unlimited lifetime data and texting for $300, compared to my smartphone's unlimited smartphone data plan costs me $30/month plus $20/month for unlimited texting. I prefer the smartphone obviously, but it's absurdly expensive. The lifetime service Peek

@wanderingrabbi: EMAIL. that's why it was such a big deal when Apple added the ability for iPhones to Facetime email addresses, instead of phone numbers a few weeks ago.

@Platypus Man: It shouldn't matter. You can root the Incredible and install custom ROMs. Thanks to the community, you'll always have the latest OS. That's why the G1 can run FroYo!

@SQLGuru: The Droid X is probably the best example of that. People were pissed when it was locked down, but it was screaming hardware on the largest, most reliable network in the US. And I think the community enjoyed circumventing all of Motorola's little traps. The X was rooted within a week, can now run custom ROMs

@ninja_togo: Um, it's sociology/anthropology. You look at how different groups of people and populations behave so that you can better understand society. As SparklyJesus points out, this can also be applied to enhance the effectiveness of marketing and targeted advertising.

@frigg: White = green

@CutePuppyz: I think Apple's taking far too long. I'm still waiting for iTunes for Android!

@tech42er: Just checked Google Voice: "There are no 212 area code numbers available at this time." Damn it.

You really haven't heard about this? It's been happening for years. This is why Google Voice is so interesting, since you can get a number with any area code. If I was willing to get a new number, couldn't I just get a 212 number and impress everyone on the Upper East Side?
