I'll take my chances with a Tesla with mantis cr long before I go into debt with a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

Loved this article. Thanks for a level-headed approach to the subject.

EXACTLY right! I’ve been riding my Zero SR electric motorcycle since January 2014, and you totally hit the nail on the head. The first ride or two, there is a lot of anxiety, followed by feeling like a bit of a fool for having been so anxious. You can manage “commute = 50 miles, range = 70 miles” very easily. Even

So how long until we have an autopilot with an unrestricted top speed, that can anticipate obstacles and detect police presence so that one can beat that 28 hours and 50 minutes?

Just bought a Nissan Leaf. 87 miles per charge. 1st day commute of 25 miles each way, with a side trip. The first time you see 20 miles left to drive you get range anxiety. Then you realize your only 2 miles from the house, and that trip cost you almost nothing.

First.

I don’t get this attitude unless you just don’t want to admit it was cool. Startup company builds fully electric car that can go 4 times farther than any other electric car and it outsells established rivals? That’s the definition of cool, at least from an engineering and business standpoint. What else does it need?

I don’t mind waiting . 20 minutes every 2-3 hours. If I have to charge twice on a trip that is 150.00 saving not having to buy gas. 150.00 for an hour of my time is not bad: we usually eat or have a short walk to get a cup of coffee and use the restroom.

Yes and Horatio Jackson took sixty-three days, twelve hour and 800+ gallons of gas to cross the country in the first gas powered car. and pardon me if I’m skeptical you could do it faster at the speed limit with excursions....and no planning ahead? The slowest cannonball speeds, and I assume they didn’t excursion on

I’d almost bet the farm that Tesla will be the first company to do this 95% autonomous as well, with the 5% the parts where you enter and leave cities and Supercharger stations.

Awesome.

The internet is immune to sarcasm. Hence why /s was invented.

Guinness only counts the time you spend charging for EVs. They don’t record speed it takes to get from one side to the other as that encourages speeding on public roads.

Yes, short time. 57 hours for 3,000 miles is extremely respectable for any vehicle. Factoring in recharging times it’s remarkable. More importantly, it shows that it can be done. Of course the distance can (and has) been done faster in a regular car, but that’s not the point. This demonstrates that the infrastructure

As much as I dislike the hype and hypocrisy surrounding coast-coast runs, this makes so much sense for Tesla. Any old ICE-powered car can do it, but to demonstrate that large distances can be covered by an EV in short times does so much to argue for their practical viability. Associating Alex Roy with this feat lends

You know that zit you sometimes get in your middle back that you generally forget about unless the the damn thing
