Because Zaslav helped make the Discovery brand super profitable through a focus on cheap, unscripted, reality TV crap and thinks that’s what streaming services should be. In the last earnings call Discovery+ was far more profitable than HBO Max, even with about a third of subscribers, mostly through ad revenue. He’s

Discovery took on a load of debt in the merger - I think it was like $30-40 billion. Discovery shows are cheap, HBO shows are expensive, so they’re pinching pennies and dumping salaries to try and look like they’re profitable. It’s pretty terrible. Like, why buy WB/HBO if you’re just going to try to make it like

If all they’re getting rid of is duplicate admin staff, that’s one thing, but here’s what worries me, the majority of Discovery+ programming is reality tv shows, cooking shows, competition reality shows. They have some scripted history shows and a lot of shows like Ghost Hunters and Ancient Aliens. All of those shows

Of course they’d want to ruin the only streaming service I actually like.

Don’t a lot of conservatives get divorced anyway? Trump had five kids with three wives. Richard Spencer is divorced. Newt Gingrich, John McCain, Bob Dole, etc.

The incels and religious right—the unholiest of all unions.

This isn’t first massive failure by the Jones’s team during this trial. They’ve accidentally turned over incriminating material a few already prior to this.

If he ends up living in a van down by the river with the gay frogs, I’ll be happy

Oh, how I hope this bleeding, sack of diseased shit gets what’s coming to him. The pic of him when the attorney said he knew he was lying will make me sleep comfy and cozy tonight.

And now it looks like the GOP is going to feel pressured to virtue signal by getting ever more extremist on the issue. For example, the Idaho GOP explicitly voting for a platform with no life of the mother exception to their abortion ban: https://idahocapitalsun.com/2022/07/16/no-exception-for-life-of-mother-included-i

My hope is that this back-fires on Republicans spectacularly. They could have kept Roe and fund-raised off of this issue and the evil baby-killing Demonrats forever, but now people who normally don’t vote and don’t give a shit because things are mostly fine for them are getting off their asses because this affects

Most Americans are for things that help people. It’s just the republicans have done such a good job of gerrymandering and such that they will have minority rule soon.

Holding this during the primary was also supposed to increase Republican turnout and decrease Democratic. So this was intended to give the measure the best possible chance of passing, and it still lost. Americans are pro-choice.

At this point I’m waiting for Zaslav or someone to come out cackling like a villain talking about how somebody at WB mocked the Discovery team at a party once and this is all the culmination of a decades long revenge plan to dismantle them from the inside out.

I’d go further: Peacemaker was one of the best shows of the year, full stop. It does sound like its future could be in doubt.

For the first (and still to this day, only) company to own an entire superhero brand, Warner Bros. did remarkably little with it during the big boom of the genre. It could have been the company’s Golden Age and they let it go by.

sources referred to the movie as “irredeemable” after test screenings.

That right jolly old elf better make out his will.

“This could be the shakiest, Jakey-est Christmas of all!”

But I got the word that Santa has been stealing from the till.
