This is not nearly on the same level, but United also recently denied me coverage for a medication I need to take on a regular basis that my doctor had prescribed me. I haven’t tried to appeal their decision yet, which I’m sure will be a delightful process.

Absolutely it does! I get my bill back from ER stays, and it’s literally in the tens of thousands of dollars, which insurance then has to pay. Like, y’all motherfuckers could have saved SO MUCH MONEY by just helping me out in covering my visits, but noOOooo000OOOo

How sad is it that my reaction to this was “Yeah, that sounds about right for United Healthcare.” It is like pulling teeth to get them to pay for anything. I had to get several MRIs a few years ago and I had to get put in the hospital for a week just to get a 20-minute test.

That sucks. And it’s so stupid - even ignoring the moral and medical angles, doesn’t preventative care save money in the long run?

I tried explaining this to my GOP in-laws years ago. They kept screaming about Death Panels and rationing healthcare (yea, Fox News aficionados), and I am like “there is already someone that does that, it is your insurance company”.

No sirree, I don’t want my government getting in between me and my healthcare. I’m perfectly happy with a private corporation that has a clear profit incentive to deny me coverage.  

Take some minor solace that this is now ALL in the Congressional record.

One would think that actual testimony would be more convincing, but I fear even video evidence of Trump killing puppies would have his supporters arguing about how the puppies deserved it.
