The reason people think this show “works” is because fans of the franchise want to live in some sort of eternal arcadia where nothing ever changes and they never have to look at anything unfamiliar. This is fundamentally no different from the failings of the sequel trilogy, except at least one third of that series

I wouldn't want to be the mandalorian who gets the beskar armor that's contaminated with stormtrooper bits.

Unfortunately the show is still “Jon Favreau plays through a decent-enough videogame and makes people watch.”

Same. I hate to yuck someone’s yum, but here we are. There was a brief moment when I naively thought he was going to bite it, and wondered “wait, are they pulling a Game of Thrones?? Is she going to become the main character, and possibly—the Mandalorian?! What a switcheroo!” Alas, that would’ve been too interesting

I really hate to be that person, but you don’t have to binge a season. You can enjoy it at your own pace.

The fact that he only used three fingers killed me.

This. This, this, this, THIS!

Groan.....

And he’s on record saying he’s bad at writing them.

Sam Elliott.

This, and they got Abrams; a director known for ripping-off, e.g. Wrath of Khan scenes in Star Trek into Darkness, and not knowing how to write decent endings.

Pretty sure we’ll eventually get to “Imperials are coming, so I’ll throw my baby out of the window of this tall building, there’s a chance somebody with flight capabilities will rescue him mid-fall and keep him safe”.

There’s only 100 senators and I’ve never met one personally, but I know they exist since they’re a hugely important part of the government, as the Jedi were. Even people in remote and/or rural areas know about them, too!

I was really hoping he’d lurch out of the TIE with his face half burned off.

Oh, one more complaint - there’s no WAY none of those characters would not have heard of the Jedi. Come on...that is unjustifiable.

Danny DeVito, obviously.

I’m all for “episodes are as long as they need to be” in concept, but this show was so consistently simplistic and underdeveloped that each episode felt like it needed a bare minimum of 10-15 minutes more story per.

I really hope that The Mandalorian leads to an increase in streaming series that release episodes weekly and keep episode lengths reasonable. It was so fun having a new episode each Friday and never have it feel like a chore to watch. More of this, please.
