Statutory rape/molestation is a crime. But is “grooming”? That seems rather vague.

I found it interesting that in the comments of Jezebel (but not here) there were people arguing that “grooming” doesn’t apply to adults. I tend to associate Jezebel more with the uncritical acceptance of accusations, like with the UVA case.

who also ran the first season of HBO’s True Detective and Netflix’s Maniac

Over the weekend I listened to some of the How Did This Made episode on Diana: The Musical. They made the point that a lot of people put a lot of hard work into it, but it didn’t deserve all that effort because it was terrible. The same applies to many works of art. I’m not saying this applies to any of the Marvel

I liked it. My longer review is here:

From people like the old couple who walked by raving about it while I was in line for The Northman.

I think networks have learned to ignore fans when they campaign to preserve cancelled shows.

Joe Swanberg’s death is better. He’s also in Wingard & Barrett’s previous film, A Horrible Way to Die.

Didn’t Liam Neeson just do that premise this year in “Memory”?

Given the quotes about how long ago he wrote the script, I find it odd there’s no mention of Cronenberg’s 1970 “Crimes of the Future”.

What the studios didn’t understand 40 years ago was that IP is king.
It is now, but that doesn’t mean it was then and that pursuing “IP” prior to the rise of streaming would have been a better business bet.

“the goofy-gory Escape From New York”
Maybe this reflects changing standards over time, but I don’t recall it

That’s missing the one “Yes, I mean no”. Was it from Chief Wiggum?

You need to do more than be better than Disney to be the best ever made. The Wire is the best show ever made!

Travel times don’t really make sense in the books either. How does Cat meet Tyrion at the Inn of the Crossroads when she’s traveling from King’s Landing and he’s coming from the Wall? How does Littlefinger get to the Tyrells that quickly after Renly is assassinated? The show got more blatant about it though, openly

He still hasn’t finished his books, years after the show ended.

Game of Thrones ran out of material to adapt and got worse... but the Dance of the Dragons is bad source material. No reason to hope it will even start out good.

It’s pronounced “Jamie” but spelled “Jaime”.

The horror-comedy I will always go to back for is You’re Next, because it’s the one where the comedy doesn’t really undermine the horror and turn the film into a comedy in mere horror garb. I just don’t like the original Evil Dead that much, so when the series shifted to comedy instead of horror I thought that worked

People like Roger Ebert realized Starship Troopers was satire. It’s just bad satire.

Bruce does seem better suited to playing “The Heel”.
