No, I know Jez ain’t all bad. I used to post there on the daily and yes - most of you are damn decent people. But if this article HAD been on Jezebel, I would not have said that - it’s just not the right audience for that comment.

Maybe not “filled” but 99% of the way to being filled.
Despite our reputation, Jezebel isn’t filled with lesbian shitasses waiting to call you a misogynist and rant about the patriarchy. We’re friendly for the most part!
That’s why this so annoys me. This nonsense right here, this woman speaking to the media and trying to get a payoff out of this - she is the reason why it is so difficult for women like me when we really DO have an issue with our team of male co-workers. I could make you a long list of stuff I’ve heard, each item of…
Thank you. The whole point of the song is that this guy attacked and scared off the man who was trying to break in and rape his sister!!!! He was warning others and also warning the man that they are going to come get him! OMG, it’s a rape vigilantism song! We cheer this song.
Her team pulled what? She sounds like the kind of person who buys a house near a racetrack and then starts a petition to shut it down because of all the noise.
Apparently. It’s what’s been happening in the Presidential race—Trump is ceaselessly mocked for his appearance but if you mention anything about Hillary’s appearance you’re a misogynist, sexist, woman hater who’s never gotten laid and lives in his mother’s basement.
Pulls what?
Can you do me a favor and point out the rape joke in this story? I can’t seem to find it.
Something tells me that drama follows her wherever she goes.
Exactly! A company where no one references a very well known pop culture reference.
Sounds like the only one pulling something was her.
Engadget included another quote in their report:
Except, rape wasn’t the joke. The ‘offended victim’ made it out to be a rape joke, then attacked the rape joke.
She created a strawman to get offended about, and wouldn’t let go.
To me, that’s beyond toxic. This victim is the perp, and she was looking for something to be offended about.
If anything the song was a cautionary tale raising awareness and reminding people that sexual assault can happen to anyone.
Rapes not funny. The song is funny. You can run and tell that home boy.
Also the thing is that it might be about rape, but the song is about how that community wont stand for it anymore and are out to catch the rapist! Not advocating rape, not making it seem ok, just a man that is fed up and wants the rapist caught.
I’m guessing this is one of those times where your HR person rubs their temples and curses. How do you respond to a well known joke/meme that has no intended venom? Going by only her account, this is an ongoing issue that has been escalated multiple times. Going by that chat log, its a one time occurrence that the…
I agree with the other posters here about no rape jokes per se but about the song, and the guy apologized multiple times, yet she continued to escalate.
Sorry, she’s blowing this out of proportion. The Intruder song was a massive cultural phenomenon, and not a rape joke. At no point in the chat did anyone joke about rape. It was being referenced as a joke and clearly did not create a sexualized / pro-rape work environment.
