It’s not comparing *you* to a racist. It’s comparing the depth of conversation to that of someone else who is underinformed about the topic. Even this isn’t a slight. I wouldn’t expect someone who doesn’t have experience gaming to be on board with the direction some gaming conversations go.

Thank you for seeing the comparison I was drawing. I’m not even remotely saying people who don’t play games are racist - it hinges entirely on the depth of the conversation. In both instances it wouldn’t feel like a fulfilling conversation for any party.

The word you’re looking for is analogy. Had I made the statement “As racist as someone who doesn’t play games” or something of that ilk, simile would be applicable. My post wasn’t using my racist uncle as a descriptor for joyless people who don’t play games.
