When reached for comment, Scelsa simply made this gesture:

I'm actually not surprised an article like this got published. This happens all the time with news programs too—how do they get away with such offensive pieces?

1. Cleopatra's paternal grandmother (and possibly mother? Unclear on this, must do more research) are unknown. One or both of them could have been black.

Just pulling this quote out of the original article:

"Instead of opening the field for actors of any race to compete for any role in a color-blind manner, there has been a significant number of parts designated as ethnic this year, making them off-limits for Caucasian actors".

NOW she's worried about "color-blind casting"?

I can assure you that Cleopatra did not make the same request.

I assume it was the agents. I get the impression they are the worst when it comes to defending the status quo. Dustin Lance Black was recently quoted as saying they're the ones who do the most to keep gay actors closeted. They don't want anything to disrupt what they consider relatively steady revenue flows. They can

just because somebody wants you to do something doesn't mean you should.

Do you think there was a moment in there where the author thought, "Wow. Am I really about to publish an article in which I claim there's too much diversity on television? This is a thing I'm doing?"

Good try troll.

Oh she does, does she?

You know that study that showed that men see a room that's 17% (or maybe is was 1/3, I can't remember) as being equal parts men:women, but they see a room that's 50% female and 50% male as majority female?

But why is this a "POC quota" when it is actually what audiences want—and if audiences didn't REALLY want it, there is no way they would get any traction whatsoever. Its not like someone mandated that they just include X token minorities to get some government contract. This is a direct response to public

White equivalence perception scale:

See, no one gave a shit or said anything about all the shows that air(ed) on BET or OWN with black people and other POC, but now that POC are showing up in droves on prime time networks, it's a fucking problem that needs to be addressed. So, basically, she's saying that we need to keep our black and brown asses on BET

I read this yesterday and legit thought it was a satirical piece until I saw on Twitter that it was, in fact, serious.

I have a feeling if TV ever decided to represent someone who actually resembled me in my lifetime - Asian American with a midwestern accent, chubby, and feminist - Hollywood would implode.

"I have a problem with representing the world as it truly is, rather than how I see it in my limited interactions with people who look like me and are just like me." - idiot woman.
