Don't know if a picture of a character who happens to be blond, blue eyed queen adored by the unwashed dark skinned masses whom she frees from slavery is really the appropriate one in this thread.

When I read your comment, I thought "nah, fool be wrong." Then I checked prices on bags.

I cannot have PTSD for working at a place where I was verbally abused, physically threatened, and treated like shit on a regular basis, huh? Good to know. Good to know.

This reminds of something I saw on a blog the other day, where a woman — dressed in Prada and Sonia Rykiel — said her style was comparable to that of a homeless person. The tone-deafness of this (and the commenters who saw nothing wrong with this metaphor) nearly sent me into a rage stroke.

In the same vein as volentourism photos of sorority girls with black children in developing nations.

The picture is really in bad taste with the context she gave to it like "oh look another Vogue reader ha ha" however in a different context it is a good picture it really shows how ridiculously sad this society can be when you living on the streets can see a magazine where a single bag costs as much as a year's rent

I am awaiting the dragging in the comments:

if you thought it was offensive, then you're an ass

Bet she has a black friend, too.

Because nothing screams dignity like someone taking a picture of you without permission in order to portray your life situation as a dire absurdity in contrast with the product they're trying to advertise.

I have had grown adults throw tantrums because we wouldn't take photos of them serving the homeless people, nor would we let them photograph the clients. We have a designated group of our regular volunteers who would walk through the meal line up for photographs - and even them, only their hands were photographed.

"Why cruel? The person to me is as dignified as anyone else!"

I'm about to say two things that will likely get me burned at the steak on this site: 1) I don't think Gwyneth Paltrow is all that terrible AND 2) I don't think Kim Kardashian is all that terrible either.

I just came here to see the gushing fountain of Haterade that flows every time Paltrow is mentioned on this site. Not disappointed, as per usual.

Why do people hate Gwynnie so?

(Genuinely asking because I don't follow these things)

Zaleski is being rightly pilloried in the comments of her Fortune article. And in discussions on both Metafilter and Reddit, her newfound perspective is being nicely filleted and roasted.

I wish having kids of your own would be enough to cut out all of the prejudice against mothers of young kids. I work at a dental office, and I was horrified when I noticed that the applicants who were known to have younger children were being either deliberately tossed out or at least moved further down in their

Off topic, but not really, somewhat loosely related observation about society and people who need kindness from strangers the most:
