I would kill to see one of those Book of Angels nights, where he gathers up some of the different bands to play marathon shows. That or watch him do one of his file card compisitions or even a game piece.

Yep, me too. Pushing 40 and I still love checking out as much new stuff as possible. It's amazing how much great music is being produced if you're willing to spend a little time digging for it.

I'm almost the opposite. I was interested in older music when I first started really getting into music - I wanted to check out the older bands that influenced the bands I was into. But I'm almost exclusively a new music guy now. There's more than enough interesting stuff out right now to keep me occupied.

How about this one? A Dr. Demento classic

It's still huge here in China. Tons of knock-off Angry Bird stuff in markets and stuff.

I guess I can agree that it was better than most of S1 (other than the post Winter Soldier stuff, as I mentioned), but better than absolute garbage is still not great. I agree about Cal - love the character and the actor. Also loved what was happening with Fitz and Simmons. Ouside of those three though, I didn't

SHIELD was good at that point only. Season 2 has gone back to the same old boring dreck as before. I just don't give a shit about most of the characters, and the dialogue and acting (especially for Director whats-his-name and Skye) are just horrible for the most part. Such a wasted opportunity.

I stopped watching that, but I'll probably pick it up again soon. I hated all the Foo Fighters songs passionately, and I really question what the whole purpose of the journey was. He spends so much time glorifying the studios and producers and sounds of each city, yet it seemingly has no inflluence in the recordings

That's got a fun score. Still haven't watched the movie yet though.

Yeah I passed on Monkey King. Saw the ads here in China and it just looked too overstuffed. I'm sick of all things Monkey King anyway. China has gone to that well waaaaaaaaay too many times in its pop culture. It's time to find something else.

I'm on a weird 70's kick right now.

I sure…I mean THEY sure do! *cough*

I see there's an SPL2 coming out soon here on the mainland. The original is good? You know any news about the sequel being worth checking out?

All those Chinese pop stars are so feminine that it's really hard for me to take them seriously as cops or kung fu masters or anything action related. I've seen a few too many variety show and live performaces by these douchebags. Hopefully you're right because I would love to see great action movies on the big

My thoughts exactly. I've had bad luck with the movies I've chosen to see in the theatres here in China. I usually pick the shitty ones…. I just looked on the local listings guide and it looks like it's not playing now or any time in the near future.

I'm familiar with Del for sure, as well as his work in Deltron 3030. The others I'm familiar with but never really got into so much. Actually, I guess I wasn't very clear, but I was only looking for this specific scene (i.e., the Odd Future guys), but thanks for the chat about hip hop anyway, always happy to talk

Couldn't disagree more. The only true soundscapey one is the last track, and it's a great foreshadowing of his later soundtrack work. All the other soundscapey stuff (such as intros and outros to songs) totally work in their context. Will always be on my list of top shelf modern day double albums.

My dad used to swear by Rumpole of the Bailey, but he's British, so maybe he's more used to the kinds of court proceedings depicted therein? He even went so far as to purchase it all on DVD. I've never bothered with it though so I can't speak from any first hand account.

What about specifically this scene - the Odd Future guys?
