I think the difference is that there is no implication, in a standard cruise control system, that you do not have to pay attention. These newer semi-autonomous systems imply that you don’t need to pay attention, even if they say you do.

I don’t understand how so many people do not see this.

Because it is all bologna

Why would premium be recommended if it made no difference?

Shoehorn? It’s the same block, isn’t it? I’m sure someone will do it, somewhere!

Premium is not required, unless you want 100% of the power and torque your engine is said to make.

Honestly, they are still mullet mobiles. It’s just that you can’t see Fluffy6079's mullet through the internet ;)

These SUVs are designed specifically for those who want to look like that they have enough money to waste on a vehicle that ignores practicality. They are made to not make sense. It’s called “F*** you money”. That is why they are also big, bold, ostentatious looking piles of waste.

Yes, when the entire purpose of keyless entry is “convenience”, and an extra step is required to ensure your car will not be stolen, then it is a bad idea. I shouldn’t have to seal my keys in a faraday cage when at home to protect my car.

Surely, you must be joking.

Because car manufacturers have convinced us that push button ignition and touch screen electronics are higher end and fancier, when in reality it is just cheaper to make them.

If the entire goal of these keys is convenience, yet the require extra steps to secure them, they are a failure. Keyless ignitions are stupid.

These were sold to the Government, and consequently many of them ended up auctioned off by the GSA auctions. I work at a local government place that employs many many people, and there are, unfortunately, several of these boremobiles privately owned by employees. I even rode in one, once.

Well it is a horrible investment if you only value monetary return don’t place value in being able to drive yourself around at a moment’s whim or having basically complete independence to move freely anywhere in the continent at any given time and by your own control.

I don’t think I’d be laughing at any extremely expensive or dangerous accident at work, let alone cheering it on. But hey, I’m the crazy one here, right?

I hate when people say that cars are not investments. That is wrong. Yes, it is a horrible investment, but it is one, nonetheless. Every dollar less you lose when you sell your car is a dollar more than you would have had otherwise. That is the principal of investing.

Especially in a world where we have to “upgrade” every product we own every year so we can open facebook a billionth of a second faster than the year before. This is progress!

See, I don’t understand the whole “upgrading every year or two” mentality. Not only is it obscenely wasteful from a resources standpoint, but it’s financially irresponsible and really has no practical value. Even in the case of quickly evolving technology, what does upgrading every year get you? An infinitely small

Well, not to be all holier-than-thou, but your military guys should probably wise up to the fact that destruction of government property, intentional or not, comes directly out of our pockets, and really isn’t funny. I know $600k is just a drop in the bucket to the military’s budget, but that sort of attitude is what

Heads-up displays, once reserved for fighter jets and vehicles in sci-fi movies, are quickly proliferating in common cars. I’ve now tested BMWs, Cadillacs, Mercedes-Benzes, Mazdas and more with information projected onto their windshields—and I have yet to experience a HUD I like.
