True. You know there’s something wrong when a OEM Civic looks more outlandish than a new Lamborghini

Seriously. When you look at the performance trims of just about any car, be it a buick, a subaru legacy, a mercedes, or whatever, it seems that maybe 25% of them are bought by genuine enthusiasts and the remaining 75% percent are people (coughwomencough) who demanded the highest trim.
You have to pay to dump it in the river in the woods near your house?
Seriously, I don’t think people really realize how ridiculous they look driving around in things this ostentatious.
did you read the...anything?
A GTI cultivates the exact opposite type of image that this guy is concerned with. These Californian execs aren’t going to judge him based on the quality of the drive or the trim package on the car, they are going to judge based on the shape of the car and the badge on the front. A VW hatchback screams low income or…
I don’t like saying all of the word “transmission” because it is long, and I am a very busy business man with very important things to do and little time to do them (or not). I also do not like to abbreviate the word by saying “tranny” as that can be taken otherwise, especially these days....
But I want to follow my dream of spending $40k a year to go to a private school to learn how to dance!
I don’t think it looks sketchy. I just think that we are trained to think that an engine bay should be covered in all sorts of hoses and tubes, and then littered by a big piece of black plastic, possibly with aluminum-esque painted accents.
I’m not sure how wealthy you were growing up, but where I come from some pretty nice first cars were had for $3,000-6,000. You can get a lot of car for that price, regardless of whether you are looking for comfort, space, power, or handling.
Does a car’s value increase when it is (cosmetically) damaged from a collision with a professional, and winning, racecar driver? I’d like to dream so.
I’m not saying that it would necessarily be a good idea to bring back Pontiac, but look at how many more G8s were sold in comparison to the SS. Pontiac certainly wasn’t the poor performer between the two.
I bought at 2000 Legacy Wagon with 119k miles on it to use as a winter beater and ended up DDing it for almost 3 years because it was a more engaging drive than my garage queen. I sold it because the rust was getting really bad and I wanted replace it and my garage queen for one fun all year car, a 2011 Legacy GT. In…
I didn’t know who he was before, but after watching this video I don’t particularly like him.
This place should be selling the unusable parts as wall hangers and decorations. Price dependent, I’d be interested in buying a burnt up section of a ferrari quarter panel. What better way to capture the essence of Ferrari?
That is what I thought but I wasn’t sure lol. I just sold a 2000 Legacy wagon (that I absolutely loved) that had rusted out both quarters, been poorly “repaired” before I bought it, and rusted through again. That is part of the reason I think this one here is worth a bit more than average.
I didn’t even notice that was just the price for the driveline basically. I read the thread a couple years ago, and don’t remember much about it. Maybe I will read through it again.
I think you are looking at the old ones with a bit of “rose tinted glasses”. The original GTOs were just as, if not more boring than the modern ones. That isn’t to say I don’t like the old ones, it is just to say that the new ones follow that same recipe. They are a large, two door coupe. And I don’t know what…
