See, I think this whole "Red Sox blew it" narrative is asinine. It's good copy, but it reflects a near complete understanding of how contract negotiations actually work.

I'll offer a third option: He's a owner's puppet AND he's stupid
I was born on Nellis Air Force Base when my father was ground crew for the Thunderbirds. I grew up going to airshows and watching the T-birds and the occasional Blue Angels show (these were always filled with my fathers commentary on how they did everything wrong). A few years a go I went the the Cleveland airshow…
Unless it's summertime, in which case traffic makes it seventy-five hours.
cool, post a link to the blog where you review every beer as being like every other beer, sounds super-useful.
Remember, boys and girls. A Midwesterner who roots for the Yankees is a frontrunner. A Londoner who roots for Man U is a glory hunter. Someone who refuses to watch the NCAA tournament because the teams aren't as good as the NBA is a freakish killjoy.
When was the last time you watched an MLS game? Genuinely curious.
Well, the stench wasn't only because of the Knicks, anyway.
You can't bubble-wrap a quarterback.
I bet he was cranking to manually compress fuel/air in the cylinder, and then the plugs were fired, starting the cycle. But that would take a lot of strength...
If there's any possibility at all of any good to come out of this, it's that we finally start to face up to this as a society.
Growing up in the 80s, a thousand miles away from Hollywood, we all knew that there were some kind of women who would make false accusations against powerful men so they could extort money out of them. Now I think, lordy, how many of those women were telling the absolute truth, and the PR architecture not only…
I've been a little obsessed with this current round of accusations, as I had my own brush with Cosby back in the early '80s. My job at the time put me in his sight line and he was, I can see in retrospect, "grooming" me for this type of encounter. I could very well have been one of these women, if I had ever believed…
Thank you, Diana. It's refreshing to be presented facts about this story without the editorial tone of "Bill Cosby is a motherf@$!ing rapist let's all go torch his house!"
Without Andrea Constand, none of this happens. Bill Cosby is still America’s No. 1 dad, still beloved for giving us…
Good dog.
Don't feel bad. With Simpson vs. California, the defense let the running back get away with murder.
I was in my dorm at Michigan State, sophomore year, watching the game with a lot of Pistons fans. We were all hammered and I couldn't believe what I was watching. Like the one guy that got punched in the face and was stumbling around on the court, and then Stephen Jackson smashed him again with a titanic punch.
Fast…
Something Luke hasn't really covered here is that the writing isn't up to AC's standard, either. I'm loving the mechanics, and the look of the thing, but the little quotes and snippets, and stuff other factions say is, while serviceable, nowhere near as good as Alpha Centauri's.
It's not just because it was new, though - even if you ignored the big mechanical differences from the main Civ series (not all of which were improvements), what really defined it was that it actually had a vision (just like Civ 1/2 did), and really had something to say to the point where a lot of the leader quotes…
