I agree with your sentiment, but disagree with your picture. Chrome bumpers and the rear lip on the deck for real beauty. Got mine (not pictured, but very similar) under $10k many many years ago, but I’m sure you can find one out there still.
MB SL500 R129. Always had a soft spot for these cars and this 1999 model is a beautiful example, with a buy it now $1 shy of the limit! Solid performance, comes with the hardtop, decent reliability and is a timeless design to me.
