I think he only said that in the apology because that's what the situation was turned into. It says he didnt realize he was scaring her and I agree with you that a man staring at you can be scary! I'm a woman I've been creeped out by that before. I just don't think that's the case here it seems like a pretty innocent

I don’t think this girl is a victim of anything - based on the information that is known . This seems like a pretty innocent situation that has gotten out of hand. Staring CAN be very creepy and can make people feel extremely uncomfortable. If this kid had a history of acting stalkerish to the girl and would NOT stop

Also - it is a completely disproportionate measure to suspend a 12 year old for staring. What even qualified as staring?! Did any words follow this menacing behavior or was it literally just looking? This is absurd on every level.

I know he seems so confused ss to what he did wrong but still so earnest to apologize for it :( there's just a lot of innocence there and you can tell he's still just a little boy thrown into this bizarre unfair situation

Oh yeah I’ve seen adults put words in kids mouths all the time. Plus a lot of kids can be tricked into “remembering” a situation differently pretty easily

His apology is breaking my heart a little. So sad.

It sounds like a teacher put words in her mouth - “are you scared of that boy staring at you? Or are you going to get into trouble too?” kind of thing. I’ve seen teachers do it all the time :/ And of course the kid answers “yeah I’m scared!”
