Fortunately or unfortunately I fly United about 90%of the time. On my typicAl morning flights to LA the line before ID check used to take twice as long or more than once I got past the TSA agent- looks like it still does at times.. LAX seems to have gotten better, though I've been flying out mid day more now.

Very little that happens in the TSA line gives me much confidence an attack would be stopped because of it. If anything the data you must give Clear and Precheck is another layer of checking identity for criminal history.

I do even before I got pre-check. The lines before you get to the ID check agent have been getting longer and longer (at least at my main airports LAX and SFO). Just getting to cut to the front of that one was a game changer.
