And as usual the first post is from someone who didn’t liked the movie.

It didn’t suck. Other things suck, but this was reasonably fun. (disclosure: i have not spent thousands of hours on the MMO.. just played the RTS in the past)
I see you enjoy splitting hairs... the movie was enjoyable, China has more than confirmed a sequel... so get over it. It wasn’t the perfect Warcraft movie, but it did a good job of laying the groundwork in a way that a Warcraft fan can enjoy alongside a non-Warcraft fan. The thing to be excited for is the FUTURE…
It was no LotR, but I enjoyed the movie, and part of its savage reception from critics, I think, is due to the frosty relationship they have with video games in general. Critics basically think video games can be one of two things, depending on what point you’re trying to make about video games: Pong, or Grand Theft…
I loved it too. Fuck the haters.
funny because I came away thinking it was the best game to film adaptation by a longshot (which still isn’t much praise I suppose)
You’re too critical of a movie that’s supposed to be laying the groundwork for potential future films... And with that in mind it honestly wasn’t that bad
As someone who has played every iteration of WoW off and on (more on than off; currently off), I was really excited for this movie. I never played the Warcraft RPGs but I knew about the lore, mostly from WoW. I enjoyed the movie...but it’s not a good movie.
I really hope they get a shot at another one. I really enjoyed the movie and it’s been on my mind since I saw it...
It is not perfect but it’s FAR better than Wing Commander. From a fairly objective standpoint, it’s getting as much right as it is wrong. Perhaps more. The setting, the fights, all the scenes with orcs are very well done. It’s a lot of the human stuff (who get the lion’s share - no pun intended- of exposition to deal…
I actually thought it was fairly good and entertaining. Not all of it of course. The entire subplot of Lothar’s son could have been done away with, but other than that it was fairly enjoyable.
